About the car

The pan is from a 1965 VW bug. The body is a CMC fiberglass Porsche 356 widebody kit that I purchased from a guy in my neighborhood. He and his father started it but he lost interest when his father passed away. I purchased the kit with VW pan and motor for $1,600 several years ago. It set in my garage for several years until one day when my wife ask if I was ever going to build the car. I said YES …….YES I AM ! From that day on I have spent money and time working on the kit to get it to a drivable condition. It still have some bugs to work out and alignment of the doors to fit properly. After 2 years of working on it every weekend I got to a point that I just wanted to drive it for a while and then I will finish the final details. ie. badging, door alignment, repaint (because it suffered several scratches while building it in my tight garage)

The car has a rebuilt 1,915 cc VW motor, with dual Webber carbs, Wilwood disk brakes front and rear, hydraulic clutch, Crane FAST XR700 electronic ignition, leather interior, upgraded cooling fan system, AN type fittings with braided line plumbing, all new steering system with upgraded shocks, remote oil filter, new freeway flyer transmission, Vintage Speed shifter, Vintage Speed Sebring exhaust and Vintage Sound system.

I have had help from several great guys most notably: Bruce Carlile (my VW mentor and Manx dune buggy owner), Paul @ Fountain of Youth VW in Clear Lake, Texas, Henry @ Bugaholics in Pasadena, Texas and Mike @ Star Upholstery in League City, Texas.
